Day 1. ARRIVAL LIMA: On arrival in Lima you are met and transported
to your hotel in the fashionable district of Miraflores.
Day 2. LIMA/HUARAZ: Early in the morning we begin full day bus
tour. After tour we pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Free time
to relax in Huaraz.
Day 3. HUARAZ: Free day in Huaraz; a chance to explore the town
and perhaps visit the small local museum. A chance to acclimatize before
the next few days of hard adventure.
Day 4/7. SANTA CRUZ, CORDILLERA BLANCA: We make an early start
from Huaraz down the Callejon de Huaylas by bus. The walk combines
lots of glaciated scenery with high water meadows and Andean villages.
The ascent is mercifully gradual until the last 500 metres arriving at
a pass of 4750 metres. Due to the suitability of the terrain we use pack
mules on this trek. It is also possible to take horses, as an option.
Arriving at Cashapampa the starting point for the popular Santa
Cruz Trek. There are many incredible views of the glacial mountains, Alpamayo
(5,947m), considered to be the most beautiful glaciated peak in the world
and Huascaran (6,768m), the highest mountain in Peru. We then climb
through three ecological zones; Quechua, Yunga and Puna
with beautiful lakes. Our highest point on the trek is Punta Union
Pass (4,750m). The trip ends at Vaqueria where we return back
to Huaraz.
Day 8. HUARAZ/LIMA: Full day bus trip back to Lima, a scenic ride
through the countryside and mountains. On arrival an evening transfer
to your hotel in Miraflores.
Day 9. LIMA/CUSCO: Transfer back to airport. Flight to cusco,
early morning where you are met by your local guide and transferred to
hotel. Free day to relax in Cusco.
Day 10. SACRED VALLEY: Full day tour with your local guide visiting
Pisac, a typical Indian market and the ruins above the town. Afterwards
we travel to Ollantaytambo exploring the Inca site in the town.
Return to Cusco.
Day 11/14. INCA TRAIL / MACHUPICCHU: An early morning start from
Cusco by bus to Km 82 (2,650m), our starting point for the Inca Trail.
At Km 82 we start our trek along the Royal path of the Incas, an ancient
stone trail linked one time from the capital of the Inca empire, Cusco,
to the fascinating sacred city called "Machupicchu".
We continue to Machupicchu (2,400m) where you will explore these famous
ruins with your guide. In the afternoon we take the train back to Cusco.
Day 15. CUSCO: A free day in Cusco to explore the city and visit
the nearby ruins at Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay.
Day 16. CUSCO/LIMA: Visit the Gold Museum, a great collection
of pre-Columbian jewelry and the Archaeological & Anthropology Museum
with the largest collection of pre-Inca and Incan artefacts. These are
the best museums in Peru.
Day 17. DEPARTURE LIMA: Transfer out to the airport. End of tour.
