Day 4/7. CUSCO / INCA TRAIL / MACHUPICCHU / CUSCO: early morning start from Cusco by bus to Km 82, our initial point of this classic trek to the Sacred city of the Incas, Machupicchu. The Inca Trail is the classic trek originating from Cusco, taking in Andean culture, and archaeology. Set in dramatic mountain scenery, it is a mix of mysteries. The trail was a royal Inca highway, linking Cusco with the religious citadel. The trail and the city became lost to the Jungle to be re-discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911.
You have the opportunity as you progress along the trail to learn about the incredible Inca civilisation and to enjoy the most beautiful Andean Mountain scenery. In the afternoon after exploring Machupicchu the last day we take the narrow railway back to Cusco. Day 8. CUSCO: free day in Cusco, Peru's fourth largest city, and time for you to explore the attractions of this lively Mecca on your own. A chance to try local cuisine and shop around. Optional extension jungle trip, please visit www.manuexplorer.com Day 9. CUSCO/LIMA: morning flight to Lima, transferring to your hotel. Afternoon tour visiting the Gold Museum, a great collection of pre-Columbian gold jewellery and an evening transfer out to the International airport for your flight home. End of the tour. |
