Day 1. ARRIVAL LIMA: Upon arrival in Lima you will be met and
transported to your hotel in the neighbourdhood town of Miraflores.
Day 2. LIMA/CUSCO: An early morning flight to the capital of
the Incas, Cusco, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Free afternoon to relax in Cusco and adjust to the altitude.
Day 3. CUSCO: A free morning in Cusco, Peru's fourth largest city,
and a time for you to explore the attractions of this lively city on your
own. An afternoon sightseeing tour taking in the colonial churches, then
visiting the Incan sites just outside the city; Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo,
Pucapucara and Tambomachay.
Day 4. MACHUPICCHU: A very early start, leaving your hotel at
5.30am and transferring to the train station for the trip to Aguas
Calientes, arriving about 9.30am. Bus up to Machupicchu, an
informative tour with a local guide, returning to Aguas Calientes. Your
train arrives back in Cusco in the early evening.
Day 5/11. CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF AUZANGATE: We travel to the southern
end of the Cusco Valley past Pikillacta (600-800AD) where we start
the trek through highland savannah to our first camp at Tinki,
passing through small villages of herders and weavers. This first afternoon
you will get your first view of the sacred mountain Apu Auzangate
(6,372m) and Collque Cruz (5,960m). 6th day: we travel through
glacially formed escarpments to the base of Auzangate ending the
day at the Upis thermal baths. 7th day: a day of harder
walking, ascending to 4,700 metres we camp the night at Lake Pucacocha
(4,150m). During the day the spectacular Auzangate becomes ever more
dominant.

8th day: a day of intimacy with high Andean scenery to Palomani
Pass (4,800m) with an easier afternoon as we descend to camp at Palomani.
9th day: we continue our circumnavigation as we move up the Chillcamayu
River valley and circle northwest to Ticllacocha Lagoon and
reach the last high pass, Jampa (5,050m). Sparkling glaciers, snow-capped
peaks and austere landscapes continue to inspire us as we gaze across
the land of the Andean peoples forefathers. Descending to the meadows
at Pacchasta on the shores of Lake Comercocha (4,580m) we
make our second-to-last camp. 10th day: today we begin our decent
leaving the presence of Auzangate. We camp for the last time at Pajchanta
(4,200m) and enjoy the thermal baths. Here we have the opportunity to
mix with the local people and come into close contact with a highland
village culture as we share a pit barbeque (Pachamanca). 11th
day: a short walk in the morning takes us to our waiting vehicle for
the trip to Cusco.
DAY 12. CUSCO/LIMA: A morning flight to Lima, transferring to
your hotel. In the afternoon tour we´ll visit the Gold Museum,
a great collection of pre-Columbian gold jewelry and have an evening to
relax in Peru's capital city.
Day 13. DEPART LIMA: Transfer out to the airport for your flight
home. End of tour.
